The Positioning

One framework. Two tracks. One more valuable business.

For Growth

Unlock the next stage without adding weight to the owner.

For Exit

Prepare the business for succession or sale at maximum value.

Two pathways

Whether you're building the next stage of the business or preparing to step back — the destination is the same.

A stronger, more valuable, less owner-dependent business.

For Growth

The business has plateaued, and the owner is carrying too much.

  • Growth has slowed or margins are under pressure.
  • The business is still dependent on the founder.
  • Leadership, systems and structure need to catch up.
See the Growth program

For Exit

A sale, succession or step-back is on the horizon.

  • Valuation matters, and transferability matters more.
  • The owner wants options — sell, keep, or hand over.
  • The business must operate cleanly without the founder.

The Framework

One value-building framework. Applied differently for each owner.

IDEAL improves the value drivers buyers and owners care about most — profitability, scalability, sustainability, and transferability. The same framework serves both pathways; priority and sequencing change with the situation.

Questions owners ask before we start

What does The Growth & Exit Collective help with?

We help owner-led businesses build long-term commercial value. That covers two situations — growing a business that has plateaued, and preparing a business for exit, succession or sale. Both use the same value-building framework applied in different ways.

How do I know whether I need growth or exit support?

If margins, leverage or scale are the main issue, the Growth track fits. If time horizon, transferability or valuation is the main issue, the Exit track fits. Most owners sit somewhere between the two, and part of the initial conversation is deciding which pathway leads with which supports it.

Do I need to be ready to sell now?

No. Most owners we work with are two to five years out from any sale, and many aren't sure they will sell at all. The point of exit-readiness work is to build a business that is more valuable and more transferable, so the owner has real options rather than a forced decision.

What if my business has plateaued but I am not thinking about exit yet?

That's the Growth pathway. The work focuses on improving margins, reducing owner dependence, strengthening leadership and building scalable systems — so the business grows without becoming heavier to run.

What does the IDEAL framework improve?

IDEAL improves the value drivers buyers and owners care about most — profitability, scalability, sustainability and transferability. It stands for Improve margins, Develop talent, Expand demand, Amplify sales, and Leverage systems.

Should I start with a scorecard or a discovery call?

Either works. The scorecards give you a private, structured read on where your business sits. A discovery call gives you a direct conversation and a considered view on which pathway fits and what to prioritise first.
